Security forces attack Tal Afar Airport and kill 18 IS militants

Nineveh (IraqiNews.com) A military source informed that security forces repulsed an attack on Tal Afar Airport, and killed 18 members of the Islamic State group, Alsumaria News reported on Sunday.

The source said, “Forces from the army’s 92nd managed to repulse a violent attack launched by the Islamic State group on Tal Afar Airport, west of Mosul.”

“Security forces were able to kill 18 members of the Islamic State, including four suicide bombers driving booby-trapped vehicles, who tried to attack military forces stationed in the vicinity of the airport,” the source added.

“Three members of the Islamic State were also arrested, while security forces cordoned off the airport and nearby villages to prevent any further attack by the terrorist group,” the source further explained.
