Kirkuk – (IraqiNews.com) Police Directorate at Kirkuk Province announced on Tuesday dismantling a cell belonging to the Islamic State extremist group, and arresting three of its members, including a woman.
Police Chief, Sarhad Qader, said in a press statement, “Forces from the Police Directorate carried out an operation, and managed to arrest two men and a woman who were forming an important cell belonging to the Islamic State group (ISIS) in Kirkuk.”
“The detainees are senior leaders at ISIS, and they were arrested in the province,” Qadir added. “The operation was carried out based on accurate intelligence information,” Qadir explained.
“This group entered the province amid displaced people coming from nearby provinces, and its members confessed that they were working with the terrorist group for years,” Qadir said.
