Al-Anbar (IraqiNews.com) On Tuesday, a commander in al-Hashd al-Sha’bi (the Volunteer Fighters) in Anbar province announced the beginning of a military operation to liberate the district, noting that the areas of Albu Khanfr and Albu Souda have been liberated.

Juma Jumaili said, “The army forces began today an extensive military operation to liberate al-Karma district in Anbar province,” and noted, “Elements of al-Hashd al-Sha’bi from the clans of al-Karma district, who had rebelled against ISIS, participated in this operation.”

Jumaili continued, “The forces managed to liberate the areas of Albu Khanfr and Albu Souda in the district,” adding that, “More than 77 ISIS elements were killed in the two regions , while dozens of improvised explosive devices were dismantled.”
