Sharqat tribal fighters attack ISIS checkpoint north of Tikrit, killing 5 elements

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – According to a security source in Salahuddin province, a tribal force attacked ISIS checkpoint north of Tikrit on Sunday, killing four ISIS elements and arrested another.

The source said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “A force from Sharqat tribe launched an attack today on a checkpoint belong to ISIS in the area of Shakra northern the city of Tikrit.”

The source, who asked to remain anonymous, added: “the attack resulted in the killing of four members of the organization and the arrest of another.”

It is noteworthy that the security forces, al-Hashed al-Shaabi volunteers and tribal fighters have carried out military operations against the stronghold of ISIS in Salah al-Din to liberate it from the elements of the organization.
