Suicide bombing in northern Baghdad, 14 casualties

( Baghdad – A source in the Ministry of Interior on Friday announced that the total number of casualties due to a suicide bombing, which was targeted at security checkpoint of the Iraqi Army in northern Baghdad, is reported to be 14.

In a brief statement, which was also obtained by, the source said, “This afternoon, a suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt detonated himself in a security checkpoint of the Iraqi army at Zara Dijla in north of Baghdad and this resulted in the death of three (3) persons while eleven (11) others were injured.”

“Most of the dead and the injured belonged to the security forces,” the source further said, adding, “Ambulances rushed to the area of incident and transferred the injured and the dead. A security cordon has been imposed in and around the area.”
