Diyala (IraqiNews.com) An Islamic State member was killed, while two others were injured in an operation, east of Diyala province, the pro-government paramilitary troops announced on Saturday.

In remarks to AlSumaria News, Ziyad al-Tamimi, commander of the 24th brigade of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) said troops “managed to kill an Islamic State member and wound two others in Imam Wees region, northeast of Diyala.”

Troops also “found three bombs in the house of the militant,” Tamimi added.

On Thursday, the Security Media Center said troops foiled a terrorist operation and killed a suicide attacker, who was wearing an explosive belt, as he was trying to target military convoys in Jalawla region in Diyala.

Several Islamic State members were killed, earlier this month, as a bomb went off inside a vehicle, while passing by al-Bu Tarmish region, northeast of Diyala. News reports quoted sources as saying that security troops arrested three Islamic State members who were planning for terrorist operations against civilians in Diyala.

Islamic State continues to launch sporadic attacks across Iraq against troops. Security reports indicate that the militant group still poses threat against stability in the country. The group still has dormant cells, through which it carries out attacks, across Iraq like it used to do before 2014.
