Diyala (IraqiNews.com) A civilian was killed, while another was injured as a bomb blast took place between Diyala and Salahuddin provinces, a local source from Diyala said on Sunday.

Speaking to AlSumaria News, the source said “a bomb placed on the road to Mubarak al-Farhan village, located on borders between Diyala and Salahuddin, went off today as a car carrying two people was passing. One of them was killed, while the other was injured.”

The village, according to the source, who preferred anonymity, said “was recently attacked several times by Islamic State.”

On Friday, five civilians, including two women, were wounded in an attack launched by Islamic State against the same village.

Islamic State continues to launch sporadic attacks across Iraq against troops. Security reports indicate that the militant group still poses threat against stability in the country.

A report by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) said 94 Iraqis were killed, while 163 others were wounded due to Violence and armed conflicts during the month of May.

Thousands of Islamic State militants as well as Iraqi civilians were killed since the government campaign, backed by paramilitary troops and the coalition was launched in October 2016 to fight the militant group, which declared a self-styled “caliphate” from Mosul in June, 2014.
