(IraqiNews.com) The New U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter said Saturday, that he would not tell the precise timing of an upcoming operation by the Iraqi forces to retake Mosul city from ISIS militants.

The U.S. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter told the press today, that any offensive operation against ISIS militants in Mosul would be carried out by Iraqis and supported by the U.S. military, adding that he has listened to recommendations from U.S. military advisors regarding the use of a limited number of American troops in the operation to retake Mosul.

“I think what’s important is that the campaign to retake Mosul succeeds, and we’re committed to that success,” he said.

Some American military officials have said that such operation would take place in Spring 2015.
