(IraqiNews.com) Salahuddin – A security source in Salahuddin province announced on Thursday, that the ISIS has attacked Samarra south of Tikrit (170 km north of Baghdad) from the southern and western axes, taking advantage of the bad weather.

The source reported for IraqiNews.com, “The organization launched, at dawn today, an attack on Samarra (40 km south of Tikrit) from the southern and western sides, taking advantage of the bad weather conditions and thick fog.”

The source, who asked anonymity, added: “The organization began the attack with four booby-trapped vehicles driven by suicide bombers, followed by clashes and mortar fire,” noting that “The attacks were concentrated on the center of Sharif Abbas Street and the village of Haji Hussein.”
