 URGENT: Joint Operations announces full control over Ramadi

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Spokesman for the Joint Special Operations Command, Brigadier Gen. Saad Maan announced on Thursday, that the security forces were able to regain control over Ramadi, while explained that the areas of Sufiya and Albu Ghanam controlled by ISIS militants are located outside the borders of Ramadi.

Maan said in a statement obtained by IraqiNews.com, “The entire city of Ramadi is now under the security forces’ control,” noting that, “Sufiya and Albu Ghanam areas, which are under ISIS control, are located outside the city of Ramadi.”

Maan added, “We are currently preparing to launch a major military operation to liberate the two areas.”

On Thursday, officers in the police of Anbar province demanded the Interior Ministry to send military reinforcements, weapons and munitions in the city of Ramadi.

Chairman of Anbar Council Sabah Krhot confirmed on Wednesday (April 15, 2015), that Ramadi is under a major terrorist attack by ISIS, and urged the interior and defense ministries to send reinforcements to the city.
