 US forces commander of the central region arrives in Baghdad

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Information Office of the Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced on Tuesday the arrival of the commander of the central region of US forces, Gen. Lloyd Austin in Baghdad, pointing out that the latter met al-Abadi to discuss the developments of the battles against ISIS and strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the security and military field.

The spokesman for the Office Saad al-Hadithi said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi received this afternoon the commander of US forces for the central region, Gen. Lloyd Austin, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of the US ambassador in Iraq, Stuart Jones.”

Al-Hadithi added that, “During the meeting, they discussed developments in the battles against ISIS and the progress made by Iraqi forces and the joint efforts between the two countries to fight terrorism, in addition to the US role in Iraq to support Iraq to liberate the cities from ISIS control.”

Al-Hadithi stated:”The meeting also discussed the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries in the security and military field so as to contribute to the achievement of the common goals of both countries to reduce the impact of terrorism.”
