Volunteer soldier killed while dismantling bomb south of Kirkuk

( Kirkuk – A security source in Kirkuk province said on Tuesday, that an element within al-Hashed al-Sha’bi militia had been killed while defusing an explosive device that was planted by ISIS in the village of Bashir south of the province.

The source said in a statement obtained by “Today, one of the elements of al-Hashed al-Sha’bi [militia] tried to dismantle an explosive device that was emplaced by ISIS elements inside one of the houses in Bashir village located in Taza Khurmatu (25 km south of Kirkuk),” noting that “The bomb exploded during the dismantlement, killing him on the spot.”

The source, who asked not to be named, added: “A force from al-Hashed has moved the body to the forensic medicine department.”
