Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Ministry of Transport announced Monday the reception of 44 thousand tons of rice arriving at the southern port of Umm Qasr.

“The General Company for Iraqi Ports in southern port of Umm Qasr received vessel KASIOPI.GR (Bulk carrier) carrying 44 thousand tons of rice for the Ministry of Trade within the ration card system,” Director-General of the General Company for Iraqi Ports, Farhan Al-Fartousi said in a statement received by Al-Maalomah news agency.

“The diversity of goods entering Iraq through the country’s ports is a clear evidence of the optimal and correct use of modern technologies used by ports in terms of loading and unloading operations of cargo and goods transported by commercial ships and oil derivatives tankers,” al-Fartousi added.

“The port also received a container ship on berth number (4), and an oil tanker on berth (8A) that was loaded with oil derivatives,” al-Fartousi explained.
