Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – According to the Government of Iraq, the newly established Iraqi Military Technical Committee toured the Ain Al-Asad Airbase in Anbar, Iraq on Saturday. Part of the tour included the transfer of military equipment and devices that was under the responsibility of the Global Coalition. These equipment will be transferred to the Iraqi army, the Counter-Terrorism Service and the Border Force Command.

The Iraqi Military Technical Committee consists the National Security Adviser, the Deputy Commander of Joint Operations, the Deputy Army Chief of Staff, and other top commanders.

Earlier this month, Iraq and the United States officially agreed to end US combat campaign and to withdraw the Global Coalition’s combat forces from Iraq. The coalition’s agenda will continue to supply guidance and support to the Iraqi forces in their combat against Daesh terrorists.

Built in 2003, the Ain Al-Asad Airbase has been a strategic military army base since the invasion of Iraq and has been used heavily by the United States Armed Forces and British Armed Forces in Iraq.
