Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The technical and engineering staff of the Iraqi Drilling Company (IDC) have completed the drilling of an oil well in the Al-Gharraf field, with a depth of 3,389 meters.
IDC’s General Manager, Basem Abdul Karim, said that this oil well is the thirteenth the company completed with the Malaysian Petronas Company. The contract with Petronas is to drill 28 directional oil wells in the Al-Gharraf oil field located in the Dhi Qar Governorate.
Abdul Karim explained that the drilling operations were carried out using the IDC 54 drilling rig with a horsepower of 2,000 HP, which is one of the modern rigs owned by IDC. The drilling rig can reach depths exceeding 6,000 meters and can move from one site to another without dismantling the device.
