Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Media outlets reported that a fleet of container trucks was bombarded on Sunday after crossing the Iraqi border towards Syria.

Iraqi security sources mentioned that 25 container trucks coming from Iran crossed the Iraqi border towards Syria through an unofficial border crossing.

The sources explained that the unidentified warplanes that bombed the trucks fired warning missiles and waited for the drivers to get out before bombing the trucks.

The bombardment took place near the city of Al-Bukamal located on the Euphrates river in Deir Ez-Zor governorate in eastern Syria near the border with Iraq.

The incident took place a day after a powerful explosion occurred in an ammunition depot in the city of Isfahan in central Iran.

The Iranian Ministry of Defense said that the explosion of the ammunition depot in Isfahan was caused by an attack carried out by three drones.

The drones that targeted site in Isfahan are believed to have been launched from inside Iran, the New York Times reported.

U.S. officials mentioned earlier that the raid in which drones targeted a factory belonging to the Iranian Ministry of Defense in the city of Isfahan was carried out by Israel.
