3 friendly matches would be enough for Iraq’s football squad – expert

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A specialist in Iraqi football affairs said he was relieved with the organization of a number of friendly matches for the Iraqi team before they are set to play in the intercontinental cup tournament, to kick off in South Africa on June 14. Some friendly games could outline the Iraqi team’s strengths and weaknesses, the specialist said. “Experimental encounters will be very important in this particular time for the Iraqi team in order for the Serbian coach Bora to get abreast of the players’ standings during the training camp he will supervise in Qatar,” Qassem Lizam, an academician in the Physical Education College, Baghdad University, told IraqiNews.com news agency. Lizam was a member in the Iraqi Football Federation’s Technical Committee until he offered his resignation early this year in protest against attempts to marginalize the panel. AmR (P)/SR 1
