Iraq defeats North Korea 2/0 in friendly

BAGHDAD / Iraq’s soccer squad beat North Korea 2/0 scored by striker Alaa Abdul-Zahra in the 54th and 80th minutes of the friendly game played on the al-Shaab pitch in the city of Sharjah, the United Arab Emirates. The first half ended 0/0 but striker Abdul-Zahra managed to invade North Korea’s net with two goals during the second half. The game was played as part of preparations for crucial games the Iraqi team will play, including the Asian eliminations qualifying to the World Cup 2014 finals in Brazil. AmR (TP) 1228
