IraqiNews.com’s Karbala NGO workshop ends

KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: IraqiNews.com news agency completed today (Wednesday) a workshop to train NGO activists on the work of the media and how to cooperate with mass media to deliver the message of these organizations.  The workshop was organized in cooperation with Iraqi Al-Amal (Hope) Association in Karbala.  IraqiNews.com Editor-in-Chief Zuhair al-Jazairy said, as a lecturer in the 2-day workshop, that “this event is part of a programme called Media Connection, which is a partnership among three organizations.  The first is international called Inter-News, and the others are two Iraqi organizations, IraqiNews.com and Al-Amal Association.” The aim of the workshop is to train NGO‘s on how to benefit from the media to support their activities in order reach the widest scale in the society. In addition, it aims to create a state of cooperation between twin organizations for social imprint rather than political or security inclinations.  The project also aims to create an archive for these organizations, their work and experience, that will benefit the researchers in fields of these organizations.  Jazairy pointed out that the workshop contained a number of topics, including the importance of media at the present time, particularly for the NGOs, how to achieve a media strategy for any organization, and how to establish a media center. In addition, it covered the characteristics and implementation of media campaigns, news technology and editing journalistic materials.  The head of the Arabic Desk in IraqiNews.com Mohammed Al-Rubai’i lectured some of the topics of the workshop and trained the participants how to deal with them.  On the other side, Trainer of the Al-Amal Association Hussein Al-Saadi told IraqiNews.com that the “workshop is to strengthen the relationship among NGO media  men and other media establishments.” “The workshop tried to build the capabilities of media activists and train them how to deal with the establishments,” he added.  18 participants took part in the workshop form Karbala, Najaf, Hilla, Basra, Diwaniyah, Simawa and Babel provinces.
