Commander of Canadian Operations: Our troops clashed with ISIS during past week in northern Iraq

(IraqiNews.com) On Tuesday, Canadian Operations commander Michael Rouleau announced, that the Canadian troops clashed with ISIS during the past week in northern Iraq, while noting that it is the first time that this has happened since their arrival in Iraq.

CNN quoted Rouleau as saying, “Canadian special forces came under attack by the organization of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in northern Iraq,” noting that “This attack evoked clashes with the terrorist fighters, leaving no casualties among our troops.”

Rouleau added, “These clashes occurred during the past seven days,” adding that, “The attack on the Canadian troops was by mortar shells and machine guns.”

Rouleau also said, “With the help of the Iraqi forces, we put an end to the ISIS sites of missile launching,” pointing out that, “This is the first time that this has happened since we arrived in Iraq; the response was in self-defense.”
