Two protesters killed in clashes in Baghdad’s Green Zone

Baghdad – Two supporters of Iraqi cleric Moqtada Sadr were killed and 22 others wounded Monday, medics told AFP, as clashes broke out in Baghdad’s fortified Green Zone.

A nationwide curfew was declared and the UN mission in Iraq called for “maximum restraint” after Sadr supporters stormed the government building in the Green Zone following the cleric’s announcement that he was retiring from politics.
