Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Migration and Displaced, Evan Jabro, announced on Friday the return of 293 displaced Yazidis to their original homes in Sinjar in northern Iraq, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.

The Iraqi Ministry of Migration mentioned in a statement that 293 displaced Yazidis returned from displacement camps in Duhok governorate to their original areas in Sinjar district in Nineveh governorate.

The statement elaborated that the step is part of the government’s plan to end the displacement issue in Iraq.

Jabro explained that the process of transporting and reintegrating the displaced took place smoothly, in coordination with local authorities and security agencies, according to the statement.

The Iraqi Minister of Migration urged Iraqi officials to find out about the conditions of the displaced Yazidis who returned to their original areas and to quickly meet their needs in cooperation with relief agencies.

Jabro confirmed that the ministry continues to provide assistance to families staying in refugee camps in the Kurdistan region of Iraq to overcome obstacles preventing them from returning to their original areas of residence.
