 59 Iraqis evacuated from shelter center in Ankara to Mosul

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi embassy in Ankara announced on Thursday that 59 Iraqis have been evacuated from the shelter center in Ankara and transported to Mosul in northern Iraq, according to a statement cited by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The statement issued by the embassy mentioned that it evacuated 59 Iraqi citizens from the shelter center in the Turkish capital, Ankara, and transported to the city of Mosul in northern Iraq.

The Iraqi embassy in Turkey also announced the opening of a second shelter center in Ankara due to the increasing number of citizens displaced because of the earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria last week, the statement mentioned.

The Iraqi embassy in Turkey confirmed earlier the evacuation of 17 Iraqi citizens from areas affected by the earthquake in Turkey.

The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced last Monday that the death toll of Iraqis died in the devastating earthquake that hit Turkey last week has risen.

The spokesperson of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, mentioned in a statement that 11 Iraqis died in the disaster that killed more than 37 thousand people in both Turkey and Syria.

A devastating earthquake measuring a magnitude of 7.8 on the Richter scale struck Turkey near the city of Gaziantep last week, affected areas in northern Syria, and was felt by residents in Iraq and Lebanon.

Thousands of people were killed, thousands were injured and thousands of buildings collapsed in Turkey and Syria, officials from both countries mentioned.
