Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Media reports mentioned that an air raid carried out by drones targeted on Wednesday a convoy of Iraqi oil tanker trucks near a border crossing between Iraq and Syria.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that that a convoy of fighters loyal to Iran was targeted by an air raid in eastern Syria, killing at least 15 people, according to the AFP.

Other media outlets reported that an Israeli air strike carried out by drones targeted Iranian fuel trucks heading to Lebanon near Al-Qa’im border crossing between Iraq and Syria.

Sources confirmed that the tanker trucks exited Iraq with official approvals, indicating that the bombing targeted two trucks out of 23 trucks.

Iranian news outlets denied that the air raid caused any casualties and indicated that a U.S. drone carried out an attack targeting two tanker trucks carrying oil derivatives inside the Syrian territories near Al-Qai’m border crossing.

Rudaw News mentioned that the international coalition bombed a convoy carrying smuggled oil as soon as it left Al-Qai’m border crossing, towards Syria, 25 meters away from the border crossing.

The convoys smuggle oil to Syria and Lebanon continuously at night, but the number of tanker trucks targeted might be 15 or 20, Rudaw News added.
