Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, received a phone call on Wednesday from the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, where they discussed coordination on different issues.

The two sides reviewed the future relationship between Iraq and the United Nations, the latest developments in the region, particularly the ongoing war in Gaza, the serious humanitarian and security repercussions, and the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, according to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The Iraqi Prime Minister of Iraq praised Guterres’ calls for an end to the Gaza War.

Additionally, according to Al-Sudani, Guterres’ position aligns with Iraq’s, which prioritizes averting escalation and keeping the region safe from events that might take disastrous turns.

The Secretary General of the United Nations praised Iraq for its contribution and ongoing communication efforts to bring about calm and stop the violence from spreading.

Guterres also emphasized the need to end the war in Gaza and spare the region from additional consequences and tensions.
