Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The leader of the Alliance of National State Forces of Iraq, Sayyid Ammar Al-Hakim, visited Kuwait to offer condolences for the death of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Al-Hakim and his accompanying delegation were received by Kuwait’s Crown Prince Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in the Kuwaiti capital, where they offered condolences to Kuwaiti officials, according to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

On Sunday, the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, visited the neighboring country to offer condolences and sympathy to Kuwaiti officials and people for the death of Kuwait’s Emir.

The Emir of Kuwait, 86, had been transferred to a hospital in early December to receive treatment and undergo medical examinations following an emergency health issue.

In November 2021, the Emir of Kuwait issued an order requesting the assistance of Kuwait’s Crown Prince to exercise some of his constitutional powers on a temporary basis.

Under Kuwait’s constitution, the crown prince automatically becomes emir but assumes power only after taking an oath in parliament.

The new emir has up to a year to name an heir.
