Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The activities of the first Arab Archery Championship started on Wednesday in the city of Sulaymaniyah in north eastern Iraq, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.

The championship began at 9:00 a.m. and will continue until the evening, due to the large number of participating teams, which are 18 Arab teams, INA mentioned.

Members of the Arab Archery Federation, during their meeting on Tuesday, decided unanimously to transfer the General Secretariat of the Arab Archery Federation from Saudi Arabia to Baghdad.

The President of the Iraqi Archery Federation, Saad Al-Mashhadani, mentioned on Tuesday that the official arrangements for the launch of the Arab indoor championship began, adding that 18 Arab countries are participating in the championship.

Media Director of the Iraqi Archery Federation, Mahdi Al-Akaili, elaborated in a statement that the championship is organized by the World Archery Federation in cooperation with the Arab Archery Federation.

Al-Akaili added that the international championship will include 23 Arab and Asian countries.
