Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi national team achieved a 3-2 victory over its Vietnamese counterpart on Wednesday in the 2023 AFC Asian Cup’s Group D.

After securing this victory over Vietnam with a goal in the 102nd minute, Iraq finished first with all the points.

Iraq’s goals were scored by Rebin Solaka in the 47th minute, Aymen Hussein in the 37th, and in the 102nd minute.

Bui Hoang Viet Anh scored Vietnam’s first goal in the 42nd minute, and Nguyen Quang Hai scored the second goal in the 91st minute.

Iraq’s Aymen Hussein scored his fourth and fifth goals to win the tournament’s scoring standings.

Iraq won five of the six encounters with Vietnam, which has not yet experienced a triumph over the Lions of Mesopotamia; in October 2015, the two teams drew 1-1 in the World Cup qualifying round.

The Iraqi national team is attempting to capture a second continental victory in its history at the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, which is held in Qatar between January 12 and February 10.

The Iraqi national team’s first victory of the AFC Asian Cup took place in 2007, when it defeated Saudi Arabia 1-0 in the final match.

This is the tenth time that the Iraqi national team has participated in the Asian Cup. It participated in the championship for the first time in 1972 and hasn’t missed the finals since 1996.

The team’s most noteworthy accomplishment was taking home the championship in 2007.
