Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Ministry of Oil announced on Tuesday that the drilling and reclamation of three oil wells have been completed in the Zubair and West Qurna oilfields in southern Iraq, west of Basra governorate, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The Iraqi Drilling Company (IDC) mentioned in a statement that it completed the drilling of the Zubair 572 oil well at a depth of 3561 meters as part of a contract concluded with the Italian multinational energy company, ENI, to drill 37 oil wells in the Zubair oilfield in Basra in cooperation with the world’s largest offshore drilling company, Schlumberger.

The statement indicated that a 1,500-horsepower drilling rig was used in the drilling operations of the Zubair 572 oil well.

The reclamation of the Zubair 231 oil well in the Zubair oilfield and the West Qurna 227 oil well in the West Qurna 1 oilfield for Exxon Mobil has also been completed, according to the statement.

The IDC of the Ministry of Oil announced in early April that it had completed the drilling of 18 oil wells and reclaimed 26 others in Iraqi oilfields for national oil extraction and international companies operating in Iraq, according to INA.

The director of the IDC, Khaled Hamza Abbas, explained earlier that the IDC owns 43 drilling and reclamation rigs with capacities ranging from 500 to 3000 horsepower, including 30 modern rigs distributed in Iraqi oilfields in the northern and southern parts of Iraq.
