Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Saturday it is following up on the case of an Iraqi girl who was kidnapped in Libya, according to a statement cited by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The spokesperson of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, said that the ministry is closely following up with the Libyan authorities to understand what happened to an Iraqi girl who was kidnapped in Tripoli last Wednesday, INA reported.

During the past days, social media in Libya and Iraq buzzed with news of the kidnapping of the Iraqi model, Dalia Farhoud, from her home in the city of Janzour, west of the Libyan capital, Tripoli.

However, the mystery still surrounds the kidnapping.

According to the news circulating in the Libyan media, Farhoud was kidnapped by an unknown armed group from her home to an unknown destination.

Some activists also accused militias of involvement.

Farhoud works in the fashion field and is also a content creator on social media. She moved to live in Libya since 1998, according to what she confirmed in one of her previous statements.

The security situation in Libya is still unstable despite the relative calm, many militias are still active in various areas in the country.
