Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Georgian Ambassador to Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon, Zaza Kandelaki, stated on Tuesday that Georgia will soon start the procedures for opening its embassy in Baghdad, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.

The statement explained that the Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, received Kandelaki in Baghdad as his duties as an ambassador came to an end.

The meeting addressed bilateral relations between Baghdad and Tbilisi and the importance of promoting cooperation in all fields, as mentioned in the statement.

Hussein commended the efforts of the Georgian Ambassador in developing bilateral relations, calling for opening new horizons for cooperation between Iraq and Georgia.

The Iraqi Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of coordination between both countries to contribute to the security and stability of the entire region and the world.

Kandelaki thanked Hussein and expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Iraqi Foreign Ministry to make the mission of Georgian diplomats successful, confirming Georgia’s continued support for Iraq.

The Georgian Ambassador added that his government will send a diplomatic delegation to Baghdad to start the procedures for opening the Georgian embassy in Baghdad.
