 German President emphasizes Germany’s support for Iraq’s stability

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid, stressed on Wednesday the importance of enhancing the relations with Germany at all levels, during his meeting with the German Ambassador to Iraq, Martin Jaeger, in Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, according to a press statement issued by the Iraqi Presidency.

Jaeger handed Rashid a written message from German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in which he congratulated Rashid on his election as Iraq’s president, the statement mentioned.

The German President, in his message to Rashid, wished him success in his duties, and indicated some challenges such as maintaining stability in the region where Iraq made great efforts, and continuing the war against terrorism, in addition to challenges related to climate change, according to the statement.

Steinmeier emphasized Germany’s keenness to strengthen the relations with Iraq in various fields, and stressed Germany’s support for Iraq’s security and stability, the statement explained.

Rashid expressed his appreciation to President Steinmeier, and affirmed Iraq’s determination to strengthen the relations between both countries and to work on expanding the cooperation to include various fields, the statement added.
