Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iranian Revolutionary Guard again bombed Kurdish opposition sites in northern Iraq in conjunction with a closed session in the Iraqi Parliament on sovereignty.

The Revolutionary Guard targeted opposition militants in Kurdistan region with missiles and drones, in an attack that is the second of its kind this week, according to Tasnim News Agency.

A day earlier, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard carried out a missile attack on Erbil governorate in northern Iraq targeting headquarters of opposition parties and an Iranian refugee camp, killing 26 people.

Following the Iranian attack, and a similar Turkish attack, the Iraqi Parliament decided to hold a session on Tuesday to discuss sovereignty. However, Iraqi media outlets indicated that security and military leaders did not attend the closed session, which was limited to MPs only.

Amid local and international condemnations, the Iranian bombing of northern Iraq is escalating under the pretext of pursuing Kurdish dissidents who Tehran accuses of supporting protests erupted since the killing of activist Mahsa Amini by the Iranian morality police months ago.

The Iranian escalation is expected to continue in northern Iraq, especially after the recent visit of the commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Esmail Qaani, to Baghdad where he met with senior Iraqi officials.
