Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi government announced on Monday that it is intending to sign an air transport agreement with Austria, which includes operating direct flights between the two countries.

The announcement took place during a meeting between the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, and the Austrian Ambassador to Iraq, Andrea Nasi, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The meeting addressed the two countries’ plan to enter into an air transport agreement, which includes operating direct flights between Iraq and Austria.

The discussions also included the procedures necessary to provide Iraq with irrigation sprinklers by an Austrian company, as part of the scope of the Iraqi government’s directive to employ modern irrigation technologies in agriculture.

The two sides discussed ways to improve cooperation in different areas as well as bilateral ties between the two countries and relations with the countries of the European Union.

Al-Sudani indicated that Iraq aims to have mutually beneficial, balanced international partnerships that promote regional stability and sustainable growth. 

The Iraqi Prime Minister emphasized that the government of Iraq supports the involvement of Austrian businesses in all infrastructure and construction sectors, which are seeing continuous growth.
