Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Presidency condemned on Wednesday the bombing that took place in the southeastern Iranian city of Kerman.

The Iraqi Presidency mentioned in a statement that it condemns the terrorist bombings that occurred in the Iranian city of Kerman, which killed and injured dozens of innocent civilians.

The Presidency emphasized Iraq’s solidarity with the Iranian people, expressing its sincere condolences and sympathies to the leadership, government, and people of Iran for the victims of this painful incident.

The spokesperson of the Iraqi government, Bassem Al-Awadi, said in a statement that the Iraqi government condemns the terrorist act that occurred in the city of Kerman, expressing solidarity with Iran.

At a ceremony held in Iran on Wednesday to honor commander Qassem Soleimani, who was killed by a US drone in 2020, two explosions claimed approximately 100 lives and caused several injuries.

Iranian official media initially reported a first explosion and then a second one 20 minutes later during a crowded event held at the cemetery where Soleimani is buried.

Although no one claimed responsibility for the blasts, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, vowed to retaliate for the bombings.
