 Iraq defeats Saudi Arabia 2-1 in the AFC U-23 Asian Cup

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraq defeated Saudi Arabia 2-1 on Monday to complete their comeback and win Group C at the AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qatar 2024.

The first goal by Iraq came from a penalty by Iraqi starlet Ali Jassim at the 45 minute mark while Mustafa Saadoun scored the second goal in the second half of the game at the 63 minute mark.

Iraq will advance to the AFC U-23 Asian Cup quarterfinals thanks to the victory against Saudi Arabia.

Iraq overcame an early setback to Thailand to secure the top spot with six points in Group C, followed by Saudi Arabia as runners-up. Thailand had lost to Tajikistan 1-0 in the previous match.

Iraq will advance to the AFC U-23 Asian Cup quarterfinals thanks to the victory against Saudi Arabia.

The match took place at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha.
