Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, held talks on Thursday with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) regarding cooperation related to supporting the financial policies and plans of the Iraqi government, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s press office.

The statement elaborated that Al-Sudani met with the Regional Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund in Iraq, Ghazi Shbaikat.

The meeting between Al-Sudani and Shbaikat addressed Iraq’s relationship with the International Monetary Fund, as well as cooperation in the field of supporting the Iraqi government’s financial policies and plans, in a way that contributes to achieving stability in the Iraqi economy, the statement mentioned.

The Iraqi Prime Minister also discussed the importance of the financial and administrative reforms carried out by the Iraqi government, and supporting its efforts aiming to combat corruption, the statement added.

The Iraqi Parliament received a few days ago a delegation from the World Bank to discuss the support and assistance of the bank to automate public financial management in Iraq, the state news agency (INA) reported.

The press office of the Iraqi Parliament mentioned in a statement that the Parliamentary Finance Committee, headed by MP Atwan Al-Atwani, hosted a World Bank delegation to follow up on loans for projects funded by the bank within the federal budget law for 2023.
