 Iraq discusses long-term investment partnerships with the US

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Finance, Taif Sami, held talks with the US Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, about possible long-term investment partnerships, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.

A statement issued by the Finance Ministry mentioned that Sami received Romanowski where they discussed various aspects of cooperation between Iraq and the United States and ways to support the growing indicators of the Iraqi economy.

Both sides also stressed the importance of cooperating in the field of banking reform adopted by the Iraqi government, the statement illustrated.

The meeting between Sami and Romanowski addressed the possibility of establishing long-term investment partnerships by creating stable investment environmental conditions in the Iraqi market.

A report issued by Lloyds Bank revealed that The United States and the European Union are the leading investors in Iraq.

In 2021, the electricity sector attracted some of the largest investment projects of the year, with GE and Siemens agreeing to upgrade Iraq’s power stations and transmission grid, according to Lloyds Bank’s report.
