Iraq donates 10 million liters of fuel to Gaza hospitals

Palestinians stand in the rubble of buildings destroyed in an Israeli strike on the Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip on November 2, 2023, as battles between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement rage

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi government announced on Tuesday that it decided to supply hospitals in the Gaza Strip with gasoline fuel, in solidarity with the Palestinians besieged in the enclave, who are living in critical conditions because of the ongoing Israeli bombing.

The decision was made to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza, who are facing aggression and siege by the Israeli occupation forces, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi government.

The statement explained that the government will donate 10 million liters of fuel to hospitals in Gaza in solidarity with the besieged people.

Health officials in the Gaza Strip announced earlier on Tuesday that the number of deaths exceeded 10,000 since the beginning of the escalation on October 7.

The deaths include 4,237 children, 2,719 women, and 631 elderly people, health officials in Gaza added.

Dozens of dead bodies are still on the roads between the governorates of the northern and southern Gaza Strip, as the Israeli forces do not allow ambulances to evacuate them.

Gaza health officials called on the United Nations, the Red Cross, and the international community to protect health institutions, secure the movement of ambulances, and stop the Israeli bombardment of hospitals in Gaza.

The Palestinians in Gaza are suffering from an imminent humanitarian catastrophe due to the Israeli army’s refusal to bring in sufficient aid to rescue the people, who have been facing intense bombing since October 7.

On October 27, Israel announced that it had begun the second phase of a long and difficult war with Hamas, which includes a ground invasion into Gaza along with intense air strikes.
