Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraq shipped over 800,000 barrels per day to India in February, according to data from the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

According to the figures, India’s overall imports of crude oil last month were 4.72 million barrels per day, a decrease of ten percent compared to January. This decrease is more noticeable than the initial official figures.

Indian refiners bought 1.51 million barrels of Russian oil per day in February, making up almost 32 percent of the country’s total oil imports as opposed to 28 percent the month before.

Based on the same statistics, Indian refineries reduced their daily imports of crude oil from Iraq to 861,200 barrels, or 32 percent less than what they had been importing in January.

In February, Indian refineries bought 801,700 barrels of oil per day from Saudi Arabia, a 13.8 percent rise over January’s sales.

As a result, OPEC’s monthly import share of crude oil into India increased from 54 percent in January to almost 56 percent in February.
