Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, said on Monday that Iraq is open to developing partnership with Saudi Arabia in various sectors, according to a press statement issued by the Prime Minister’s press office.

Al-Sudani’s statement took place during his meeting with the Saudi Minister of Commerce, Majid Al-Qasabi, and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting addressed prospects for cooperation between the two countries, and ways to develop the bilateral relations to benefit the people of both countries.

Al-Sudani affirmed openness towards developing the partnership with Saudi Arabia in various sectors, especially in economic and investment areas, the statement mentioned.

Al-Sudani also confirmed that Iraq is looking forward to cooperate with Saudi Arabia in the field of energy and to coordinate in facing the effects of climate change to limit its consequences on the region, the statement explained.  

Al-Qasabi confirmed the continuation of the work of the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council, which includes cooperation between the two countries in the economic, investment, tourism, security, and other fields, the statement added.

Earlier on Monday, Al-Qasabi arrived in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, heading a government delegation, where he met with Iraqi officials and discussed several issues of common interest.
