 Iraq moves towards diversified economy

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani, confirmed on Tuesday that Iraq launched the Development Road and the Al-Faw Grand Port projects as part of the government’s policy to shift towards a diversified economy and not to merely rely on oil.

A statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) mentioned that Al-Sudani received the Russian President’s Assistant, Igor Levitin, and his accompanying delegation, where they discussed the bilateral ties between the two countries.

The two sides reviewed ways to enhance mutual cooperation in different fields and talked about the upcoming visit of the Iraqi Prime Minister to Moscow.

Al-Sudani also noted that the Development Road and the Al-Faw Grand Port are sustainable economic projects due to their significance to countries in the region and their importance to accelerate integration with other trade corridors.

Levitin conveyed the greetings of the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, to Al-Sudani, stressing Russia’s eagerness to promote cooperation with Iraq in various fields.
