 Iraq plans to build 19 bridges in Baghdad

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Services and Construction Committee in the Iraqi Parliament announced on Monday its intention to construct 19 bridges in the capital, Baghdad, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.

The parliamentary committee also announced the formation of two committees to follow up on the capital’s entrance projects and the rising prices of units in residential complexes.

Member of the Services and Construction Committee, Baqir Al-Saadi, mentioned that the Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, stressed the need to complete the entrances of Baghdad as soon as possible, INA explained.

Al-Saadi noted that obstacles facing the completion of these projects will be resolved as quickly as possible.

The Iraqi MP explained that many projects including the construction of approximately 19 bridges will be implemented in the center of the capital, specifically in Abu Nawas, Karrada and Jadriya Streets, following the approval of the new budget.

Al-Saadi also clarified a committee was formed by the Investment Authority to follow up on that the increasing prices of units in residential complexes, noting that the prices per square meter range between one and 1,500 USD, and reach two thousand USD in some areas.

The Iraqi government called on the Parliament on Sunday to approve the country’s general budget as soon as possible.
