Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Chairman of the National Investment Commission (NIC), Haider Makiya, met with the Saudi Ambassador to Iraq, Abdulaziz bin Khalid Al-Shammari, to discuss strategic partnerships.

Al-Shammari was accompanied by a delegation from the Saudi Shura Council (Consultative Assembly of Saudi Arabia) and members of the Saudi-Iraqi Parliamentary Friendship Committee, according to a statement issued by the NIC.

Makiya stressed the importance of promoting investments and concluding strategic partnerships to sustain economic growth in the national and international markets and in the industrial, agricultural, energy, and tourism sectors.

Makiya indicated that the NIC is planning to turn the investment sector in Iraq into a source of income, enhancing the financial capacity of the Iraqi government.

The Chairman of the NIC explained that Iraq is full of different investment opportunities that attract foreign and local investors.

The Iraqi official illustrated that the NIC is eager to develop economic relations with the Saudi Ministry of Investment and Saudi companies to carry out vital projects across Iraq.

Al-Shammari expressed his hope to hold joint meetings and create partnerships between the two countries according to precise feasibility studies.
