 Iraq wins 5-0 over Yemeni counterpart in 25th Gulf Cup

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Group A competitions of the 25th Gulf Cup held in the southern Iraqi city of Basra ended with an Iraqi victory over its Yemeni counterpart.

The Iraqi national team qualified for the semi-finals of the 25th Gulf Cup championship, after obtaining the first place in the group, while the Yemeni and Saudi national teams are leaving the championship following their losses in the first round.

The Iraqi national team achieved a superb 5-0 victory over its Yemeni counterpart, on Thursday evening, in the third and final round of the group stage.

The Lions of Mesopotamia ignited the match firmly on home grounds in front of 65 thousand of the fans in Basra International Stadium, Doha News reported.

The goals of the Iraqi team were scored by Mustafa Nadhim in the 40th minute, Amjad Attwan in the 64th minute, Aymen Hussein scoring his first goal in the 74th minute and his second goal in the 75th minute, and finally Hussein Ali scored the fifth goal in the 88th minute of the match.

The Iraqi national team is now on top of the group with seven points, while the Yemeni national team bottomed the standings with no points.
