Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Commander of the Iraqi Air Force, Shihab Jahid, revealed his forces’ plan for 2023, stressing that it will focus on restoring the infrastructure of his forces, according to statements cited by the Iraqi News Agency (INA).

Jahid confirmed that the Air Force Command gave priority to rehabilitating air bases, indicating that there are plans to purchase aircrafts to secure the protection of the Iraqi airspace, INA mentioned.

Jahid elaborated that the purchase of aircrafts must be preceded by the preparation of air bases, to ensure that the aircrafts can operate in bases that have the required infrastructure to be able to complete their missions.

The Commander of the Iraqi Air Force stressed that the air forces are able to secure the Iraqi airspace from the northernmost region of Zakho to the southernmost point, which is Al-Faw, and to protect the Iraqi borders.

Jihad confirmed in previous statements that there is a plan to arm the Iraqi air forces during 2023, explaining that this plan depends on the nature of the situation and the war against terrorism.
