Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Directorate of Border Enforcement (DBE) announced the arrest of 12 foreign infiltrators who tried to cross the border in the eastern Iraqi governorate of Wasit, from Iran, Alsumaria News reported.

Through continuous field monitoring, the second regiment in the 20th Border Brigade arrested 12 infiltrators of Pakistani nationality after they attempted to cross the border illegally from Iran, the DBE Command mentioned in a statement.

Following their arrest, the foreign infiltrators were transported to the Iraqi authorities to have the legal procedures against them completed, the statement added.

On February 25, Iraqi border guards arrested 23 foreign infiltrators who tried to cross the border illegally.

The DBE Command mentioned at that time that the first regiment in the 10th Brigade of the DBE Command arrested 23 foreign infiltrators for an illegal attempt to cross the borders.

The arrest of the 23 infiltrators was based on accurate intelligence information, and part of the DBE’s tasks to confront smuggling and infiltration, the DBE Command added.
