 Iraqi, British FMs discuss Iraq’s role in promoting regional stability

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, discussed with the British Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, James Cleverly, the role of Iraq in promoting regional stability and bringing points of view closer, according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.

The statement clarified that Hussein, during his meeting with Cleverly on Tuesday, talked about Iraq’s role in enhancing the relations between countries in the region, particularly between Saudi Arabia and Iran, as well as Iraq’s eagerness to continue its efforts to reduce tension in the region.

The meeting addressed ways to strengthen relations between the two countries following the approval of the general budget and the stable security situation the country is seeing.

Hussein called for promoting cooperation in educational, health, industrial, agricultural, and other sectors, according to the statement.

The British Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs expressed appreciation for the Iraqi government’s efforts related to economic reform and stressed the UK’s willingness to provide the required support to Iraq.
