Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Israeli army announced that it shot down a drone last week over the Mediterranean Sea near Lebanon as it approached Israeli airspace.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq said that it targeted a few days ago Israel’s Karish gas platform in the Mediterranean Sea with a drone, confirming that the target, which is the Karish gas field, was directly hit, according to Al Jazeera.

The spokesperson for the Israeli army, Daniel Hagari, claimed in a statement that a drone was destroyed last week as it was targeting Israel’s territorial waters.

Earlier, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq said in a statement that its militants launched an attack against an important target in the Mediterranean using appropriate weapons.

The Iraqi faction elaborated that the step comes in support of the Palestinians in Gaza and in response to the massacres committed by the Israeli occupying forces against civilians.

Iraqi armed groups backed by Iran have claimed responsibility for many drone and missile attacks on US and coalition forces in Iraq and Syria since October 17 in response to Washington’s support for Israel in its war in Gaza.
