 Iraqi FM discusses his upcoming visit to Washington with U.S. Ambassador

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, received on Wednesday the U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, Alina Romanowski, where they discussed several topics, according to a press statement issued by the Foreign Ministry.

The meeting between both officials addressed the latest political developments, and the importance of strengthening the mechanisms of bilateral cooperation between Iraq and the United States to serve the interests of both countries, the statement clarified.

Hussein and Romanowski also discussed the general security challenges facing the region, the statement elaborated.

The two sides talked about the upcoming visit that an Iraqi delegation, headed by Hussein, will make to Washington, in the next few days, to discuss political, security and economic issues, the statement explained.

Hussein and Romanowski exchanged views about the intensive agenda and the meetings that will be held with various parties in the American administration, the statement added.

The U.S. Ambassador confirmed that her country gives great importance to this visit, particularly since it comes at an important time in the history of the bilateral relations between Baghdad and Washington.

 Romanowski confirmed that Hussein’s visit emphasizes the development of ties between the two countries, as it will address the sensitive situation in the region.
